Firearms Instructor Course w/ Rifle Component (OC Depts. Only)

This seven (7) day course of instruction is presented by the Firearms Training Cadre of the Ocean County Police Academy and will be conducted at the Jackson Township Police Department Range facility. The first day will be a prequalification followed by seven days that will be devoted to handgun and shotgun. This is a New Jersey Police Training Commission approved course which is designed to instruct department officers who will be assigned the task of instructing and certifying officers in the use and care of firearms. Instruction methodology, firearms policy, testing and operation of a firearms range will be reviewed. Officers will be required to furnish their duty weapon, shotgun, rifle and ammunition.
The officer must first fire a score of 96% (48) HQC II on the handgun, three consecutive times (not an average), to qualify for this course.
There is a 3-day Rifle Instructor class attached to the Firearms Instructor course. This is optional for attendees of the F/A instructor. You CANNOT just register for the Rifle Component. It is not offered separately.
6/1-8/21 Pre-qualification day followed by 6-Day Course
6/9-11/21 Rifle Component
Approved eye and ear protection, Baseball type cap, cleaning equipment, 1000 rounds handgun, 50 rounds of trap/skeet loads, 25 rounds of OO buck and 25 rounds of slugs, 1000 rounds .556 (for rifle component). Duty Pistol/ approved holster, 12ga police shotgun w/sling, AR-15 platform .556 patrol rifle with sling.
Night Firing day TBD.
Open to Ocean County Departments only at this time. Limit 2 seats per department. Course is strictly limited.
