Uniform & Equipment Requirements

Each Recruit shall have the following equipment in order to participate in the Law Enforcement training program administered at the Ocean County Police Academy.

  • Department Patch on Right Shoulder
  • SLEO I or II Patch on Left Shoulder (If applicable)

  • (1) Black Leather Belt
  • (1) Black Leather Low-Cut Military Shoes (No patent leather or Corfam shoes)
  • (2) Pairs Black Crew Socks
  • (1) Black Baseball Cap (Flexfit Style with no logo)
  • (1) Black Tru-Spec H20 Proof Gen 2 Parka #2027*
  • (1) Black Tru-Spec Polar Fleece Jacket #2434*
  • (1) Black BDU Trouser (For Firearms Training)
  • (1) Silver Metal Name Plate (First Initial, Last Name)

NOTE: BRING ALL ABOVE LISTED EQUIPMENT ON THE FIRST DAY OF PHYSICAL TRAINING.

Firearms Equipment & Supplies:

  • (1) Department Issued Service Weapon with 3 Magazines
  • (1500) Rounds of New Factory Loaded Practice Ammunition (Must meet Definition of Equivalent Load)
  • (12) S.T. Pro Action Pistol Dummy Rounds or equivalent (Appropriate Caliber)
  • Must have Metal Case with plastic tip
  • (1) Pair of Firearms hearing protection
  • (1) Pair of wrap around eye protection
  • (1) Hand held Flashlight
    NOTE: Agencies with weapon-mounted lights MUST have a hand held flashlight as well.
  • (1) Duty Belt
  • (1) Duty Holster*
  • (1) Duty Magazine Pouch
  • (1) Blue Gun, which is equivalent to Department Issued Pistol
  • (1) Gun Cleaning Kit
* Auto lock-trigger finger release style holsters are prohibited. (Ex. Blackhawk Serpa)

NOTE: DUTY BELT, HOLSTER, MAGAZINE POUCH AND BLUE GUN MUST BE
AVAILABLE ON 1st DAY OF CLASS. ALL OTHER FIREARMS RELATED EQUIPMENT MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION 4-6 WEEKS PRIOR TO FIREARMS TRAINING.

NOTE: ALL VEHICLES DESIGNATED FOR EVOC TRAINING MUST BE MECHANICALLY SOUND AND PASS INSPECTION BY THE EVOC INSTRUCTIONAL CADRE.
